Olly-Olly-Oxen-Free

I read on another blog that this is International De-Lurker Day.  If it's not, she made up a holiday and I'm cool with that.  This is your chance to say hello and my opportunity to meet the readers.

"Hello, readers."

So, come out in public and introduce yourself.  I promise not to point and mock, unless you're that weird kid who ate the hamster food in 5th grade.  If you are him, I promise to not be too cruel, but seriously..hamster food?  What were you thinking?

P.S. After today you can absolutely slip back into anonymity if you want, until next year.

My name is Sara. I am an RN and a lactation consultant. Happily Catholic as my sister, Mary, says. I have a DH and a DS. Open to another child, but not blessed to have one yet. I enjoy reading, knitting, singing, contra dancing, cooking and spending time with my 3yr DS (at least when he follows directions). We (DS and I) go to Adoration together weekly. I am quiet, he's 3, I hope God understands. I'm becoming more involved with pro-life issues, and working to get more people (especially my co-workers) involved, too. I stumbled onto your blog in the last week, and I am really thankful to have found it. Hope that clears up at least one mystery of "Who are my readers?"

Hi, Mom. My name is Loretta Brighton. I live in rural Michigan between about 70 miles west of Detroit. My husband works in Detroit (horrible commute but he says it is worth it) and I stay at home and school the kids (2 girls, 2 boys, ages 10, 7, 4 and almost 2). In MI this is the BAD time of year to homeschool. Gets a little cabin fever, especially when everyone is sick, like we have been for the past 2 weeks. I tend to see things with a negative spin, so I guess I should say it is also a great time of year to hs, because we can enjoy the snow and go at our own pace and make up the missed time in June/July. I also tend to worry a lot and hs from default. If there was a good, holy and safe Cath school for the kids they would be in it, but the only school is 1 hour away and it is very expensive and the kids are really no diff than general society, just richer... As you can see I'm still in that negative rut (could be the virus speaking). Seriously I really just try to trust in Jesus and I ask Him to make up for my defects and help me to raise up holy children for heaven. Thanks for your blog, it is an inspiration and helps me feel less isolated.

My real first name is Cindy and my middle name is Sue which I use in Blogland along with Packrat. I'll email you my last name. (There are four of us with the same kind of unusual name in our area!) I'm not sure what I am religion-wise - sort of old style Episcopalian/Catholic. I'm not pleased with the direction the Episcopal church has taken in the last thirty years and especially not in the last five years or so. Most of the time, I'm much more comfortable in the Catholic Church, but I haven't yet wanted to actually "become" Catholic. My husband and children were raised Catholic. I keep books for my husband's business and putter around the rest of the day taking care of dogs and cats. I have two grown children, an almost grown step-granddaughter, and a 13-year-old grandson. My son and grandchildren live two long days drive away, so we only get to see them about once a year. My daughter is a senior in college. I homeschooled and am a firm believer that it is best education available for most children.

Hi, I'm Laura and my life is an open book. I'm not a "lurker", per se, but I think I'll post about De-Lurker Day in the hopes of catching some good ones, like you did! There are sure a lot of neat people in the world reading your blog! Any new peeps should read this one regularly. She's got gems galore and more wit and wisdom than is right to have in one mom's head. I love The Mom!

I'm Katie, a Lutheran mom in Midwest City. I started reading your blog after a mutual friend of ours introduced me to it. I love reading about your big family, as I hope to have one of my own some day. (My #2 is on the way right now!) I'm really hoping to meet you, and as soon as all of the holiday things are taken care of, I'm sure our friend will get that going. :) I've wanted to comment before, and I couldn't pass up this opportunity. Hope all is well!

Hi! My name is Jamie and I'm a very Catholic wife-to-be in April! Your blog is SUCH an inspiration to me because I hope to one day be the mother of a huge family. I honestly don't remember how I came across your blog, but I'm glad I did! :) Thank you for your wonderful posts!

Hi, I'm Anne from Michigan. I'm a Catholic wife and mother of 4. I happened on your blog a couple of months ago and really enjoy it. Yes, I'm a lurker. There is no Hamster food eating happening here, but my 2 year old enjoys the dog's food whenever he can.

Hi my name is Kim and I am practically your neighbor in Edmond OKla. I am seriously considering becoming Catholic and read Catholic mom blogs. Your post about "My kid is not your kid's unsaved friend" hurt my heart and spoke volumes to me. I have been So Baptist all my life and ran an AWANA program. While I do NOT think that now, in my younger years I might have said something like that OUCH. You never are aware of how wrong that is and how much hurt that can cause. Thank you so much for posting that. Catholics (practicing ones) are hands down more spiritual and closer to God than anyone I've met. Anyway, hope you don't mind me reading about our lovely family.

Hi, My name is Julie and I have been reading your blog for 6 months or so. I am a cradle Catholic from Indiana. I am married with three amazing kids who attend our parish school. I have never eaten hamster food but knew a neighbor who tried dog food once. Maybe he is related to your old classmate. Thank you so much for sharing your faith with all of us. Happy De-Lurker Day!

It is so lovely to read all your comments! It's just me, Hope. De-lurking before I have to go to sleep. I don't remember how we found one another's blogs but am glad we did.

Hi--I'm Mom's crazy IRL friend Rachel, from south of her current location. I homeschool, I have five children, and I blog too--so ya'll ought to come over and read a bit (although I've been totally unaware today was Delurker Day).

I will have to post about that tomorrow, as I need to get some sleep (2 yr old twins will do that for ya).

Oh, and btw, I'm Catholic too (although not raised that way, I was raised non-denom).

Hi, Mom! Aren't you glad I checked my email tonight before bed? ;-)

Hi, I'm LarryD from Acts of the Apostasy, living in an undisclosed location. I have four wives in three states, twelve kids (two in jail, but that's a whole other story), have several outstanding warrants and get bloggers in trouble because soon after commenting, the blog host gets subpoenaed by the cops. Sorry, Mom..

Hello from Nod over at Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.

Since I've got 5 Nodlings of my own, I feel a great affinity for The Mom. You do us all a great service here at Shoved To Them. You Rock!

I'm Chris, and I found your blog through a friend's link on HER blog. You are very witty and have some funny posts. I'm a liberal, Catholic homeschooling mom of two. I wish I had more, but can't. I love reading Catholic mom blogs and knowing that we Catholics can, hopefully, all get along, regardless of politics.

I'm Erin and I post at bearing blog. I'm totally stealing your idea, so be warned.

I am Catholic, homeschooling, and pg with #4. I'm a former engineering nerd turned crunchy homemaking nerd, but fortunately I am married to an engineering nerd through whom (and for whom) I can be vicariously nerdy. I've been reading your blog for a long time and love your writing style.

I am Suzanne--your friend! You already know that I have 5 kids and I homeschool them and we are Catholic. I don't know if I ever told you that I am a revert who found the beauty of Catholicism back in 1994 when I started going back to Mass, but even stronger when I started attending adoration and going to confession in 2002. I then learned everything I could find out about my faith and I love it. I never knew I could have such an intimate and beautiful relationship with Jesus and I am certain I couldn't have it without His church!

I ate a dog biscuit in the 1st grade--does that count?

I am Katherine. I am a Mom of two kids under 3 and live in Oklahoma. We don't have much in common (Not Catholic, Not Homeschooling, Not able to have more children) but I love reading about other Moms and their daily lives. I usually ready each entry of your blog but only stop by about once a week.

Quick question. I was raised with no TV. My oldest is always at battle with me for more TV time (I currently allow one hour a day)...how much TV do your kids watch?
