My 3-year-old son walked up to me a few moments ago and clambered up onto my lap. He placed his chubby hands on either side of my face and gazed into my eyes.
"I wuv oo, Mommy," he said.
As my heart beat pitter-pat, he reared his head backwards and slammed his forehead into my own. As tears welled up in my eyes, he laughed maniacally and pronounced, "Head bonks mean love," and walked away.

My compliments. I've experienced that painful love many times. It would be wonderful if it weren't for the fact that I've been caught off guard many times.
Ouch! I had one once that I'm pretty sure broke my nose--it hurt for about a month after the bonk! Love does hurt!
hahaha... can TOTALLY relate to this one! 'cept mine is two... those smiles are killer, aren't they?... : )
When our 15 year old was about that age, that was his way of expressing love as well. He finally outgrew it. And I would never say I miss his sweet little head butts. Now he sends text messages ;)
Love this!! Well, you know what I mean!
OW!
Yet hysterical nonetheless.
Hope your head is happier now.
Remember the old Army ads, "the toughest job you'll ever love?"
Ha, what a perfect description for motherhood. You even get scarred up, even if it's not from battle.
I once went to give one of my kids a smooch on the top of the head. At the exact moment my lips touched his head, he jumped up (as little boys are known to do.) Not only did I get a bloody lip, but I thought he had knocked a tooth out.
I can laugh about it now. =D
So funny!
Heather, the exact same thing happened to me with my 8 year old boy, except my nose and lips took the direct hit. I think little boy heads are made of cement. -Loretta
My husband can not sit on the couch for five minutes without at least one of the girls using him for a trampoline or climbing on to his shoulders (pulling his hair for balance). Sometimes all the feet and knees and elbows and heads do some damage, but he knows that they wouldn't do it if they didn't love him so much (and if he didn't let them get away with it).
I'm just glad he love you. If "head bonks mean love" what mean hate?? I think he is trying to train you reflexes.
