Can You Help Me Out?

The other day, I sent my mom copies of some of my most recent blog posts.  She called me on the phone and said a bit wistfully, "You're such a talented writer.  It's a shame that no one gets to read what you do.  It just seems like a lot of time and effort for something no one sees."

Ummmm....really, Mom?  I know she doesn't get the internet or blogging.  I know it.....but really?  I think she imagines that the only people stopping by are relatives, my poor friends who feel some sort of obligation, and that creepy guy from college.

Can you do me a favor and say hi?  Something simple like "Hi, Mom!  I'm reading from (your town here) " Then I'll print it out and mail it to her and she can see that it's more than the 5 sad people she's imagining.

Thanks!

***Wow!  Y'all are great!  I'm completely overwhelmed by the number of wonderful comments.  Thank you for the nice things you've said about me (in front of my mom!) but most of all for reading what I have to say.  Thank you.

Hi there,

I am reading your daughter's blog from Checotah, Oklahoma, U.S.A. We are actually from Midwest City, but moved out here about 3 years ago or so - thinking about heading back that way though. I thought I would throw that in since you all are from OK too (just a coincidence though, I don't know you except through reading the blog).

Kathy - That's funny since we went to Mass in MWC until last June and lived there for years!

Hi, Mom's Mom!!! I'm a reader/friend from Grass Lake, MI. My husband reads too. What makes your daughter's blog SO special is: originality, light hearted, sometimes agonizingly heartbreaking, witness to Christian charity, pro-life, sometimes hilarious and always honest. I agree, she should write a book.... maybe when she is a grandma and has more time. -Loretta

Do you marvel, like me, when you are at a daily Mass and only a handful of people show up? And, yet that faithful priest and Holy Mother of Church continues on to offer the Sacrifice of the Mass.

Nobody is listening?

If only 1 soul is listening or if your conversation is only to God, it is worth it.

But, of course, Hi Mom, you have a great following.

Even still...if I was your only audience, I would be worth it.

I promise.

Hi there, Mom! I'm Casey, from Texas, and I've been reading your daughter's blog for 2 or more years now. Her blog is one of my favorites because she's a fantastic writer, and she is able to make such great observations about life and faith in such a down-to-earth, relatable way. I'm glad to be counted among her fans!

Good job!Isn't this what adults did in the "olden days" before lawsuits and mind your own business was all the rage? People cared about each other's families. We need more of it!

I have one son age eight but I'd like to know why parents let their kids go out unsupervised?

Just wanted to say Hi! from Lodi, Ohio. I love your blog. It has this way of making me laugh or cry in the same way your favorite movie always will.
I am 24 years old, married almost 3 years. I found your blog while I was looking for trying to conceive/infertility blogs. This find was ultimately better. The first day I found your blog I linked over to abort73 and bought t-shirts from there for my grandma, my friend, and myself. (we <3 those shirts!) and we leave their "business" cards everywhere!

-Amanda

Thanks for all your wisdom, laughter and tears.
