Book Review - Come My Beloved.

I've been meaning to write this review since the Writers' Conference last August.  It's just been sitting on my Kindle and looking at me, taunting me about how I put things off...even when I really want to do them!

I liked Come My Beloved, by Ellen Hrkach.  I really did.  I was really prepared to hate it.  Sorry, Ellen, but it's true.  I'm not generally a fan of love stories.  I get irritated with short story collections because I want the stories I like to continue.  This was the book I most dreaded reading from the whole stack I was given.

I briefly considered sending Ellen a note saying "This just isn't my thing." at least a dozen times.  Then I was up in the middle of the night with a nursing baby, or a sick child, or because I couldn't sleep...and this book was exactly what I needed.

Come My Beloved is filled with beautiful stories of love and courtship with a Catholic flair.  In the wee hours of the night, I smiled and cried along with the authors.  I was "hearing" about the beauty and perfection of God's plan in their lives.  They were the quiet voices which kept me company when the house was dark and a bit too quiet.

Inspiring.  Touching.  Hopeful.  That's how I would describe it.  Simple, but in the very best way.

Now go get your own.  It's less than $3.  What do you have to lose?

I'm a contributor to the book, and I have been holding off of reading it for the same reason!

OK, now I'm going to REALLY have to read it. :)

Thank you so much for reviewing this ebook! I bought it on a whim and already read the first story. Wow! My close friend (who is such a catch!) is turning 31 this April and is not married yet. Frankly, she's terrified because she has repeatedly discerned marriage instead of the religious life, which she was very open to! I sent her a link and can't wait to hear back from her. Thank you for sending hope in the midst of her despair! :)
